Today at Microsoft’s XO19 event in London, Relic has released the first gameplay trailer for Age of Empires 4. This trailer packs pre-alpha gameplay footage, which obviously means that it does not represent the quality of the final product. As such, the game’s visuals may receive an upgrade (or a downgrade).

In Age of Empires 4, players will once again experience the trademark epoch-spanning struggles that defined the AoE franchise and spawned many similare games like Rise of Nations and Empire Earth. There aren’t many details yet but for example, it seems the game will feature the Mongols and the English civilizations, among others.

On an interesting side note, AoE 4 is being developed by Relic Studios, making it a third party Microsoft exclusive. Relic Entertainment, the studio behind the Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War franchises, is owned by Sega. Relic has never made an Age of Empires type strategy game before but they may put their own spin on the title.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has not revealed any additional details about this new RTS. Until we get more information about it, you can go ahead and enjoy its gameplay trailer! Ayoyoyo wolo, wolo!
